Ethernet Dos and Don'ts

Ethernet Dos and Don’ts

With the popularity of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), industrial Ethernet applications are expanding. The IIoT is helping collect data on plant floors and is using Ethernet cables, connector and switches as key components. However, when setting up a new Ethernet network or expanding an existing one using these components, there are some things you need to consider. Read more on the dos and don’ts of Ethernet

Application Story – Cool Strawberries

MACS Cooler—with the help of Hawkins Engineering, Quantum Automation and AutomationDirect—designed a more efficient precooling system for produce. The original design used an AutomationDirect DL205 PLC platform. This provided adequate performance and flexibility, but after well over a decade of design changes and feature additions, a processor upgrade was required. A Do-more Series PLC was selected for this upgrade. Read the entire application story

Condition Signals as Needed

Discrete and analog field devices provide the bulk of information to control, monitoring and data acquisition systems. Connecting these devices with the proper signal level and without any issues is therefore critical. Fortunately, signal conditioners can smooth or change the signal, address issues, and even provide some simple logic. Learn more about signal conditioners

Application Story – PLCs in Radio!

There are lots of impressive technologies used in broadcasting, but control of transmitters, audio sources, power and facilities is often low tech. A seasoned broadcast engineer is addressing this issue by using PLCs to improve broadcasting, starting with remote transmitter sites at iHeartMedia in Los Angeles. Read more on how a Productivity2000 became a radio star

White Paper – Managed Ethernet Switches

Knowing when to choose an managed Ethernet switch instead of an unmanaged Ethernet switch for your industrial grade networking solution might not be obvious. In this white paper, product manager Jonathan Griffith explores the reasons and applications where an industrial managed Ethernet switch should be used and when an industrial unmanaged Ethernet switch is sufficient. Download managed Ethernet switches white paper
