“CLICK PLC and C-more HMI Integral for Emergency Ventilator”…

Using readily available AutomationDirect parts,
an Auburn University team converted a CPAP machine to a high-functioning emergency
ventilator in the midst of the COVID-19
pandemic.
With the threat of ventilator shortages during
the COVID-19 crisis, various organizations
called on developers to build “emergency ventilators”.
A team at Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn
College of Engineering went to work, designing RE-INVENT—an emergency room-ready
ventilator—over a weekend and developing it throughout the following week. Dr. Tom Burch relates the process in this success story.

Keep Industrial Electrical Safety First

For industrial machinery and systems, designers must apply the right products for physical, electrical power, and automation safety.
From simple consumer devices to complex industrial machinery, safety features are necessary to protect users from moving parts, high temperatures, electrical shocks, and other hazards. Fortunately, designers have many options at hand to address these safety issues.

Add Remote Monitoring to Your Maintenance Toolkit

Remote monitoring options help maintenance personnel respond faster for the systems they manage and support, saving time and money. Industrial automation maintenance technicians commonly assemble toolkits with items like hand tools, multimeters, and a two-way radio so they can efficiently perform their work. In recent years, many techs have added a laptop computer so they can connect with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and now, mobile devices are becoming a must-have tool for modern control system support.
