When it comes to industrial labeling, precision is important. Misplaced, peeling or torn barcode labels can make them unreadable to scanners, while poor ink quality can make them unreadable to the human eye. Inconsistent coloring can also jeopardize brand recognition.
Operating amidst the rigors of an industrial environment, durability is critical, as well. The portable label printers that are popular now must be rugged enough to endure accidental drops and the harsh conditions found in a warehouse or on the manufacturing floor.
Wisconsin-based Epson LabelWorks understands these demands. Created by a merger between K-SUN and Seiko Epson Corporation in 2014, the company combines 30 years of industrial label printing with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of printers and imaging products.
“From the very beginning, we’ve always focused on innovating portable and desktop label printers, software and supplies for customers who depend on crisp, clear and durable labels,” said Amy Miller, President of Epson LabelWorks. “When customers choose us for their industrial labeling solutions, they get a brand they know and trust, covered by the industry’s only lifetime warranty.”
Prioritizing Simplicity
Today, the company offers a range of solutions, including those available from AutomationDirect, each designed to simplify labeling for Epson LabelWorks customers.
These four portable thermal transfer printers are all recipients of the PC Magazine Editor’s Choice Award, which noted their easy operation.
- The LW-PX300 printer is ideal for industrial-style labeling for small businesses and hobbyists wanting professional-looking labels. Its easy-to-use handheld design measures 1.2 inches high in front to 2.25 in the back, making it more comfortable to hold for thumb typing.
- With the ability to print from Windows PCs, Macs or mobile devices, the flexible features of the LW-PX400 make it easy to create labels from any application that works with a standard printer driver. This highly portable printer connects via USB or Bluetooth and is meant for medium-duty labeling.
- The LW-PX700 is a great option for those who need to print industrial labels on a job site, whether printing from a PC or as a standalone device. Weighing in at 2.75 pounds, a handle on its base makes the printer convenient to carry. Reviewers also found the Epson label software very easy to use.
- As the largest handheld Epson printer, the LW-PX900 is built for moderate-to-heavy industrial labeling. A step up from the LW-PX700, it offers wider tape options and higher resolution. Reviewers noted the unit’s 360dpi resolution as double the typical sharpness of this class of printer. This 2.78-pound ruggedized device sports a handle on one end for portability and print-on-the-fly operation.
Compatible Accessories Lessen Complexity
Epson LabelWorks accessories are also available from AutomationDirect, ranging from power adapters, mounting magnets and carrying cases to batteries and bumper guards. Offerings also include supplies, such as label cartridges that print standard and strong adhesive labels to magnetic, matte and heat-shrinking tube labels.
“Like all Epson LabelWorks solutions, each cartridge is made with customer ease as a top priority. For example, every Epson LabelWorks PX label cartridge is compatible with every LabelWorks PX printer,” said Melissa Coffman, Product and Training Lead, noting tape width as the only variable.
“With 330 varieties of sizes, colors and materials to choose from, our labels are ideal for a range of applications, from pipes, wiring, junction boxes and meters to safety signage and barcode labels.”
Committed to Satisfying Customers
Beyond protecting the planet, customer satisfaction is also one of the company’s guiding principles. For example, the Epson LabelWorks printers featured on AutomationDirect include LabelWorks’ lifetime warranty.
“Just register your printer with us and, no matter what happens to it, you are covered at no additional cost,” explained Glenn Seaberg, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We listen to our customers and learn from their comments and interactions, so we can continue delivering the solutions they need,” Seaberg continued.
Designed for Printing and the Planet
Epson LabelWorks is committed to designing and manufacturing products for its customers, while preserving the environment.
“We have a quarter century of sustainable industrial labeling innovation behind us, and we’re committed to attaining 100% adoption of renewable energy to reduce our environmental impact,” said Miller. “We’re also proud of our ongoing efforts to realize the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for protecting the planet.”
