Supplier Profile – Husky Rack & Wire

Every workplace shares a common goal to keep employees safe and productive while preventing costly accidents. The reality is, moving machinery means risk. But with the right protection, that risk can be minimized. That’s where Velox Machine Guarding comes in. Designed to create a safe perimeter around equipment, it helps businesses meet regulatory standards, reduce the chance of injury and avoid the fines and downtime that come with safety violations. Velox Machine Guarding is easy to install and very adaptable in the field, combining flexibility and compliance in one smart system.

Velox is manufactured exclusively by Husky Rack & Wire, a family-owned and -operated North Carolina company that has roots stretching back to 1964. What began more than six decades ago with founder Reginald Young’s vision and dedication has grown, under the leadership of his son, Ron Young, into one of the industry’s most respected names in material handling. Husky continues to build on that legacy of quality and innovation from its national headquarters and main manufacturing facility in the Charlotte area, plus branch offices in Texas and Massachusetts. Today, the next generation carries the torch, with Ryan Young leading as CEO and Deborah Young and Rebecca Young serving as vice presidents. Together, they keep the company’s family values front and center.

In addition to safety and guarding products like Velox, Husky Rack & Wire manufactures a variety of other products for the material handling industry, including pallet rack, cable reel rack, wire deck, security partition, rack guard and aisle shield. It is the only RMI-certified material handling products manufacturer in the country to have dual certification for both pallet rack and wire deck. Husky Rack & Wire also provides technical and engineering support across an extensive product line that uses numerous punch styles, gauges and sizes. Husky is proud to manufacture all of its products in compliance with “Made in the USA” standards.

“We pride ourselves on deeply understanding the business needs of our customers, which drives everything we do in product development and service,” said Deborah Young, Vice President – Sales. “Through it all, our team of experts is going to do their best work so our customers can do theirs.”

The Velox Difference

Who doesn’t want to keep installation time short, budgets low and security high? The patented Velox system does all of that while exceeding regulatory safety standards as outlined by OSHA, ANSI, Robotic Industry Association (RIA), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), ISO, and others. Not only is it the ultimate in employee and equipment protection, but it also installs four times faster than other guarding systems while providing easy access for maintenance and service of robotics, machinery or equipment.

Velox’s non-progressive panels and patented hook-type fastening design allow for this fastest assembly in the industry. The line posts are 2-1/2” square tubular steel (14-Gauge) and are double the strength of 2” square commercial tubing. Posts are Hi-Hide Yellow finish.

Velox can be used to enclose one machine, a work cell or an entire line. Standard and special configurations are available. Doors can be set for use with various types of interlocks to ensure the safety of personnel.

Sometimes standard sizes don’t work for every application, so each panel can be cut in the field to create the perfect fit. When panels are resized, bolt-on clips can replace standard welded clips, making Velox incredibly versatile.
