Supplier Profile: di-soric

When you grab a snack from a vending machine or pick up a prescription from the pharmacy, you probably don’t think about the sensors working behind the scenes to make those conveniences possible. And chances are good that you don’t wonder about the sophisticated vision systems ensuring product quality or the precise measurement technologies verifying everything is exactly as it should be. More likely, you are more focused on getting what you need quickly and reliably.

di-soric headquarters

However, di-soric, a sensor and automation technology manufacturer headquartered in Urbach, Germany, thinks a lot about what is needed to make these systems work well. Their innovative sensors, high-performance machine vision and identification components, high-quality LED machine and signal lighting solutions are the eyes and intelligence behind industrial automation processes across the globe.

Serving Customers for Over 40 Years

While di-soric may not be a household name, this family-owned and managed company has been specializing in industrial automation since 1982. Its 169 employees across eight locations in Germany, Austria, France, China, India, and Singapore create products and solutions used in the areas of assembly and handling, packaging, machine tools, measurement & testing for the automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and electronics industries.

The company pioneered key sensing technologies that have become industry standards. And it was instrumental in developing fork light barriers and capacitive label sensors, innovations that are now fundamental components in modern manufacturing lines. Through the years, it has acquired specialized companies in image processing and ultrasonics to expand its technological capabilities.

The company’s areas of competence are:

  • Part feeding solutions for correct storage, feed, and provision of components in assembly, machining, and packaging processes
  • Labeling technology, including trigger, measuring, label, and vision sensors
  • Non-contact distance measurement of fill level, object positioning, and quality control in automation systems
  • Quality inspection systems used in the production of single parts, the assembly of components, and the inspection of finished products before they are packaged
  • ID code reading in factory automation ensures versatile control at each production step
  • Lighting solutions tailored to the unique characteristics and requirements of a customer’s needs
  • and many more…

“Our wide range of products is complemented by our flexibility in developing customer-specific solutions,” said Peter Eisemann, CEO responsible for sales, marketing and product management. “We take pride in how our sensors and solutions enable the automated systems that keep manufacturing in many industries running smoothly. We like to say that our industrial automation speaks our customers’ language.”

Different Product Families

In addition, di-soric offers other products designed for unique industrial challenges and specific functions. Its inductive ring sensors detect even the smallest metallic components within supply tube systems for further processing. For parts that are fed very quickly, these sensors’ integrated pulse stretching generates an output signal that can be easily analyzed.

Its fork light barriers can detect objects as small as 0.2mm in diameter using LED light sources that achieve performance levels approaching laser light barriers. They excel in applications requiring rapid, precise detection of small objects regardless of surface characteristics, making them ideal for high-speed manufacturing processes in the packaging technology, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries.

di-soric frame light barriers detect very rapidly moving objects, independent of position in the detection range, and are well-suited for counting processes and range detection. They can be installed quickly and are immediately operational.

Its ultrasonic sensorsare used as proximity switches in automation for distance measurement and web edge control, making it possible to detect objects with any color or surface, even transparent, liquid, and powdery ones. They are insensitive to contamination and can be operated across long distances.

di-soric laser distance sensors offer micrometer-level accuracy for critical positioning and quality control applications requiring contactless distance measurement. They excel in demanding applications, such as robot-controlled adhesive dispensing, linear positioning of pipettors, and high-resolution sealing film inspection in packaging machinery.

Powerful 2D S-Mount Lens Cameras and More

AutomationDirect offers di-soric fork sensors and recently added the company’s 2D S-mount lens cameras, which use a standard interchangeable M12 lens. These cameras provide powerful imaging capabilities that can also function as vision sensors, making them ideal for applications that require flexibility and adaptability.

They support functions such as localization, detection, counting, measurement, and code reading. They also include user-friendly configuration software for high customization, along with a web HMI for easy remote access.

The cameras offer a wide range of focal lengths through interchangeable lenses, providing standard and wide-angle views. They feature apertures of f/4.0 and f/8.0, support image correction for optimal clarity, and include integrated lighting around the lens to reduce external illumination requirements.

They also support multiple communication protocols, including TCP/IP, FTP Client, SFTP Client, Profinet Client, and EtherNet/IP. Each unit includes three inputs and five fully configurable outputs and is housed in a rugged IP67-rated enclosure backed by a 2-year warranty.

Committed to Sustainability

The di-soric team believes that economic growth goes hand in hand with sustainability and ecological thinking and is constantly striving to reduce the ecological footprint of its business processes and supply chains. It holds ISO 14001 certification in environmental protection, ISO 9001 certification in quality management, and is an Authorized Economic Operator in the European Union.

“We are taking measures to constantly reduce the negative effects of our business activities on the environment and have a detailed sustainability plan. We want to be CO2 neutral by 2030 and reduce CO2 emissions per unit sold by 5% per year,” said Stefan Eisemann, Co-CEO responsible for R&D and production.

To help achieve these goals, all di-soric sites in Germany use 100% sustainable green electricity from renewable energies. In addition, the company promotes mobile working and digital meetings when possible.

Continuing Innovation

Going forward, di-soric will remain committed to developing innovative and quality products that meet its customers’ needs.

“As industries continue to embrace Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, that commitment is crucial to ensure we remain at the forefront of machine vision, sensor and industrial lighting technology,” said Peter Eisemann. “The combination of our proven reliability and cutting-edge innovation positions

di-soric well for the exciting next phase of industrial automation evolution.”
